I am a 34-year old mother of two very active boys (please visit my Facebook!)- Gabe (4) and Jude (2) and wife of Nige all of whom I adore (but who, let’s face it, also exhaust me)! The boys love trucks, trains, trikes, scooters, football and running, Nige loves gardening and works with children. When I get time I love crafts, sewing, photography, cooking, dancing, languages and stories…
The blog is mostly about the challenges of parenting, attempts to do it in a sustainable way (both environmentally and in the wider, sanity, sense) and about running businesses around your children. For my part, I sell Barefoot Books – beautiful childrens’ books and run Tatty Bumpkin children’s music and movement sessions as well as researching a local children’s listings guide, running storytelling sessions, parachute games sessions, starting a Woodcraft Folk group, forming a dads-n-lads reading group, amateur writing on parenting issues and running children’s parties.
I feel strongly about parenting and how hard it can be and wanted to work in this area. If you want more information about what’s on in the summer (including free activities in the park etc) then email me at paulabrown@mybarefootbooks.com.
I named the blog after this Cherokee Prayer Blessing which I love and fits with the whole image of running Barefoot as well as a hint at keeping our ‘footprint’ in check! I extend the wish to you and your family…
May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.
go well, Paula x

I’m looking forward to learning more about you and your lovely family :0)
This is exceptional. I wonder if I can reach this goal that you have reached in your life. Excellent work Paula.
Love the page, your Cherokee prayer brigs to mind our reading we had at our wedding Cherokee as well I think:
May the sun bring you new energy by day;
May the moon softly restore you by night.
May the rain wash away your worries
And the breeze blow new strength into your being.
And all the days of your life may you walk gently through the world and know its beauty.
Now you can feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there will be no more loneliness.
Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling to enter into the days of your life together,
And may your days be good an long upon the earth
