In the vast abyss of time since I last wrote in here I have become an amateur pirate. Amateur in the sense that I haven’t actually indulged in any pilaging, more dressing up as a pirate for children’s entertainment purposes and also for occasional grown-up shenanigans such as the now infamous Pirate Convention which featured a pirate punk band (the Surfin’ Turnips), much singing of sea shanties, jigging and ale.

I’ve even done my own amateur piratical history research and have read many a tale of the cross-dressing female pirates who are less rare than one might think, many of who swashbuckled their way from one end of the Golden Age of Piracy to the other. More on pirates later (it now has it’s own category).
