turnip1.jpg‘The Gigantic Turnip’ is Barefoot’s best-selling paperback. In this classic folk tale from Russia, an old man and woman grow a gigantic turnip. It’s so big that they need everyone’s help to pull it out of the ground. In the picture above they are sowing they vegetables.

And that’s what I’m going to do now. I doubt that I’ll grow big vegetables like the old man and old woman though…The slugs have eaten my carrots and the children have driven over the gooseberry bush!
