Mini-musings of an amateur philosopher… Part 1: feed yourself January 9, 2008

OK, so I know I duck about, from the sublime to the ridiculous but here I explore, albeit briefly, energy sources and how to tap into them.

A friend who is doing a ‘birthing from within’ course; quite a spiritual approach to birthing, was talking about a theory that one of the reasons women get so exhausted by birthing then parenting is that we’re naturally programmed to give out: milk, food, love, cuddles, guidance etc etc and that in modern society we’re not ‘hooked up’ to anything that feeds us so we can perform these wonders.

The suggestion might be that you find such a source, fast! These might be, but are not limited to:

  • belief in a diety
  • guidance from a spiritual system
  • darn good friends
  • a huge Italian-style extended family
  • a rock of a partner
  • very fulfilling work

without this, we are constantly drained, or so the theory goes…
